Wine, food and culture go hand-in-hand and are impossible to separate. In most cultures around the world, wine is part of a meal. The wines produced in different regions of countries varies with the country and region. You don’t have to know what you like before you depart. You simply need to be open to tasting the wines that are produced in the region visited. Even though you will probably taste wines at wineries that don’t export their products to the US, by tasting them you’ll gain a much better appreciation of the wines that are imported from that country/region.
