Explore one of the least appreciated wine production regions in North America!
Join retired MTSU professor and viticulture/enology expert Dr. Tony Johnston on a five-day trip to the beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake region of southern Ontario. This region of Canada is known for its fruit production and the wines produced here are world renown. The original home of North American Icewine production, the region has become a powerhouse of fine wine production.
In addition to visiting the Canadian side of Niagara Falls and the quaint and historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Dr. Johnston will take you the major sub-regions of the area to experience the range of aroma, flavor and structure of the wines produced there. You’ll dine at iconic restaurants in the region and discover the “hidden jewel” that relatively few are aware of just north of the US border.
Program Details
The trip begins with your arrival at the Buffalo, NY airport. Dr. Johnston will meet you in the baggage claim area of the airport and we’ll cross the street to board our rental van and head to Canada. All participants must have a valid passport or passcard to enter and return from Canada.
Single and double occupancy rooms are available (please specify your preference). Pricing is based on lodging:
Single occupancy, $2200
Double occupancy, $1775/person
This trip is limited to 6 participants. Canadian law forbids the operation of rental vehicles with capacity larger than 7 passengers, so a minivan will be rented for this trip. Due to limited space for luggage, it is strongly recommended to pack lightly.
Reservation and Payment Information
Reservations may be made using the form on this webpage; confirmation of your reservation will be sent by email. A $500/person deposit is required to secure your reservation and payment in full must be received no later than September 20, 2026.
Payment may be made by Venmo (@Tony-Johnston-5) or Paypal (@TNWine). Confirmation of payment(s) will be provided by return email.
Liability Release Form
Each participant must sign and return the liability release form. Failure to sign and return this form will forfeit your deposit and you will not be allowed to board the rental van.
